DEAR SIR

NOT to labour the point but I feel we must add Cardiff to the list of UK airports that will not have any flights to Palma this winter. Bmibaby ran three flights a week last winter...none this year. It is a route that we use at least 15 times a year and never experience flights less than 70% full.

The big question is who will BUY BRITISH MIDLAND, the owners of Bmibaby? I am doing a little crystal ball gazing and would suggest that Virgin may buy the whole airline from Lufthansa for the valuable Heathrow slots but I suspect they would then wish to sell off Bmibaby to possibly Flybe or Easyjet......heaven help us if it were to be Ryanair! In the 80's and 90's we South Wales residents, who have homes here, can remember traveling to Heathrow or Gatwick by coach or train to catch Iberia or Air Europa flights. That added at least five hours each way to our journey and made Majorca a much less attractive destination. Should we put our houses on the market while the euro is strong and say farewell to Spain! For the moment we have chosen Bristol and Easyjet as our preferred choice for this Winter and have also made at least 8 reservations for next Summer. So it's Good bye Bmibaby, quote “The tiny airline with tiny fares”, except they haven't been tiny for a very long time now!

DEAR SIR

AS a frequent visitor to Puerto Pollensa I compelled to write about the lack of pride that the resident “dog owners” seems to have in this beautiful place.

The dog walkers seems to think that the pavements which both residents and visitors alike have to walk on, are there for the sole purpose of their “dog toilets”. It is both very unpleasant and unhygienic to have to constantly avoid the dog litter around the place.

Please dog owners, it is a very simple task to pick up your dog litter in a plastic bag and dispose of it in either your own bins or the designated bins around the resort.

I might add, however, that the council could do with providing more bins and the relevant “poo bags” to go with them.

Yours Faithfully, Carol Cullen
