Dear Sir,

I PARTICULARLY stayed up Thursday night to see the BBC programe Question Time featuring the BNP leader Nick Griffin wanting to see (and hear) what all the fuss was about, and this “leader” of the much derided party, who never-the-less pulled in some 900.000 votes in elections in the UK.

To comment impartially on the event, Griffin came across as most ineffectual, mumbling and bumbling along, with strange answers, he seemed like an uneducated man, totally out of his depth. Of course it did not help that the rest of the panel were against him 100 percent, and the seemingly hand picked audience joined in deriding him universally.

One telling point he did get across, was the total inefficiency of the Labour Government on control of immigration, “asylum” seekers, that has formed the bed rock of the BNP appeal for support. Labours' Justice Secretary Jack Straw did his share of fumbling and bumbling in poorly answering this question. There should be no fear of a reappearing right wing/fascist taking serious hold in the UK (and certainly not under Nick Griffin) but certainly the BNP will cream off a number of voters whose vote will be a protest against the Labour Government which will further hit Gordon Brown and his party at the forthcoming general election.

The person on the panel who came across best with their comments and answers was Sayeeda Warsai the Conservative representative, giving calm, to the point and intelligent answers. Hopefully we will see more of her in the future.

Yours sincerely
Graham Phillips
