...or thirty or three hundred for yesterday afternoon's release of Aung San Suu Kyi from the house arrest imposed on her by the military regime of Myanmar (Burma). The leader of the country's National League for Democracy has been under one form or another of detention for almost twenty years following her party's sweeping election victory in 1990 which was immediately vetoed by the military. Suu Kyi's future plans are difficult to forecast; she has always said whe would not accept conditional frredom but the Army's grip on the country remains very firm.
