...for those who designed and made and maintained and flew Britain's Harrier jump jets for 30 years of exemplary service (but not for those who decided they should be dispensed with at such short notice and inadequate consideration). This week four Harriers took off from the aircraft carrier Ark Royal for the last time; the crews of the two Harrier squadrons and the 600 sailors of the Ark Royal herself are due to be disbanded by the end of December. A very questionable policy in many people's view.
