57 percent of Bulletin readers are against any move in the UK to shorten school holidays, but 43 percent approve of the move suggested last week. Ofsted Chief Inspector Sir Martyn Oliver has said that it’s “time to think about school holidays again” and that he supports an extension to school term times. His argument is that the length of school holidays should be looked at again.

Government turning them into there little indoctrinated robots. Yes comrade Starmer, ok comrade Starmer.
Obvious point is that if holidays weren’t such a rip off during holidays there would be less fines. Also having a set Easter holiday period instead of working off the moon cycle would make hotel openings more settled. And lastly if the UK thinks 190 is too few, how does that logic work with Spain at approx 165? With 12 week summer holidays, summer camp costs, and short school days anyway, it’s a wonder any children or families get ahead in Spain.
"UK threat to Mallorca" "Any such move would also lead to hotels, airlines and tour operators restructuring their pricing" Surely you are aware that there are other nationalities that visit Mallorca? In fact orders of magnitude more than Britons. And surely you've heard the terms "over tourism" and "saturation" used in the context of Mallorca? We can barely handle the tourist load now. A few less will only make more room for others. It appears that with or without longer or shorter English school holidays, it's hardly any "threat".
