By last night, the National Police drugs squad has seized a total 1'600 kilos of cocaine as operation Flecha, which swung into action in Ibiza on Tuesday, continued across the country. Police continued searching the Gibraltar registered boat Lorena, intercepted in Ibiza, yesterday and the initial haul of 400 kilos of cocaine rose to 949 during the day as more of the drugs were found stashed in various parts of the boat. The rest of the drugs were confiscated in a series of police raids carried out in Barcelona, Tarragona and Vizcaya. Two more people were also arrested and National Police sources said that the drugs squad has smashed a major international narcotics cartel. 15 people were arrested on Tuesday, ten in Vizcaya, four in Barcelona and one in Tarragona. According to the National Police commissioner, Angel Mari, in Ibiza, the two arrested on the island are both very well connected in the medical world. Mari also revealed that operation Flecha was first launched in Barcelona in October of last year.
