Soller resident Catalina Maria Alcover Casasnovas yesterday celebrated her 107th birthday and becomes the oldest woman in Majorca. Catalina Maria and her husband the poet Juan Ferrer moved in to the Nuestra Señora de la Victoria residential home in Soller in 1980 and it was there where the local council held a special mass and birthday party yesterday lunch time. The celebrations were attended by a number of friends and family, some of whom had come from as far as Montana in the United States and members from the local council. During the party, Catalina Maria was showered with presents and she was very much the life and soul of the celebrations. She admitted that she still likes to look the best she can and loved all the jewellery she received, just showing that at 107 years of age there is no need to let yourself go. Many happy returns.
