Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith were two of the main stars of this year's edition of the King's Cup/Copa del Rey which finished on Sunday night. Banderas' brother was competing in the event and the star of The Mask of Zorro had put to sea on the yacht himself on Saturday. Griffith followed her husband's progress from the deck of a privately chartered motoryacht which was moored in the Real Club Nautico in Palma. On Saturday night the Hollywood couple attended a dinner presided over by King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia. On Sunday it was back down to the Real Club Nautico to watch the final day of racing. Yesterday, they headed off to Banderas' native Malaga, where he will be made an illustrious son of the city later this week. Griffith and Banderas have now become a regular feature of the Copa del Rey. Always polite and always willing to talk to the media or pose for a photograph the couple are an example of how celebrities should behave when they are in the limelight. Eventhough Banderas is firmly settled into Hollywood he never forgets his native Spain and returns every year for his annual holiday. Now Majorca figures very much in his plans which is great for the island.
