Two brothers were plucked to safety from their sinking vessel some five miles off the Soller coast in the early hours of yesterday morning by the SAR air sea rescue service. According to the CRCS emergency centre in Palma, the alarm was raised by the two brothers on board the German registered yacht Ranara when she started taking on water and sinking fast. After picking up the may-day message, the CRCS mobilised a SAR helicopter and dispatched the Badia de Soller salvage ship to save the two crew members, who were both rescued and returned to dry land safe and sound. Later yesterday morning, the CRCS were in action again after fire broke out on board a yacht two miles off the coast at Cala Figuera in Satanyi.
