More than two million passengers passed through Palma airport last month, an increase of two percent. It was the British who saved the day. The number of Germans fell by 5.27 percent or approximately 45'000 passengers. The British situation was more up-beat, with passengers numbers showing an increase of almost 9 percent or 58'000 passengers. So far this year 3.2 million British people passed through Palma airport an increase of almost 10 percent. A airport spokesman said “the drop in Germans has been counterbalanced by an increase in Britons.” Local hoteliers are also upbeat but they are still concerned about the German market. There are also fears about the tourist tax.
