An interesting exhibition opened last Saturday in the old factory of Can Beia in Alaró, «Els anys elèctrics», pays tribute to the centenary of electricity in the Balearic Islands. The town council, GESA, Sa Nostra, the Balearic Government and the School of Engineers have all joined together to create this complete and detailed exhibition about electricity and its evolution in Majorca. The factory of Can Beia could not have been a more apropiate venue to hold the exhibition as Alaró was the first place in the island to have access to electricity. More than 40 million pesetas have been spent on the project and it represents the initial steps of a future museum dedicated to energy and electricity. The exhibition, wich will remain open to general public until May, focuses on the history of this vital energy and its raltionship with majorca.
Let ther be light..100 years afterwards
