The Council of Minorca's web site received 18.356 hits during its first 12 months in operation. The council's vice president, Carme García Querol, presenting the figures yesterday said that the web site was set up in order to provide members of the island's community direct access to the local authority, its functions and various departments. The web site also offers links to the Public Health School, which provides first aid information and has also proved a success, receiving an average of 370 hits per week. The Insular Council is still expanding and developing the site and over the course of the next few months will include policy and legal information as well as future plans the Insular Council has for the island.
