Tourism lucky attacks were not earlier

President of the Spanish Quality Tourism Institute, ex-Balearic Minister for Tourism, Eduardo Gamero, said yesterday that the Balearic tourist industry could benefit from the international situation. Speaking in Minorca he admitted that at the moment, it is very difficult to predict what effect a prolonged military campaign in Afghanistan will have on the “safe and secure” Balearics, but pointed out that tourism figures to the Caribbean and the Eastern Mediterranean are going to fall and that the Balearics could benefit. “Within the tragedy, it was lucky that the attacks happened in September when the season was coming to an end, had they happened in May or June, they would have caused serious damage,” to the tourist industry.
