The Municipal Water Board, Emaya, said yesterday that over the weekend, the water level in Majorca's two main reservoirs, Cúber and Gorg Blau, has risen. The two reservoirs are now holding 34 per cent of their maximum capacity. Emaya sources said yesterday that on Saturday, Gorge Blau collected 232 litres per square metre, topped up by a further 152 litres per square metre on Sunday, bringing the total to 384 litres per square metre. Before the weekend's rain, the water level was extremely low, just 7.7 per cent capacity and the sharp increase has been welcomed by the water board. All of the wells used by Emaya have also shown sharp increases in the amount of water. This month has been the wettest in recent years according to Emaya and the water board hopes that should the wet spell continue, Majorca's water levels may eventually return to normal.
