The Council of Majorca has spent 70 million pesetas on giving itself a new image, under the slogan Aquí y ara, Here and Now. Maria Antonia Munar, the Council's president, launched the campaign yesterday, saying we could not continue with the corporative image of the last century, as the Council of Majorca is an organ of the present, with a great future. The logo has been revised and modernised, appearing in white on a blue background. The design of the campaign has cost nine million pesetas, and a further 23 million pesetas has gone on the production of a television spot. The rest of the money will be spent on adverts in the press and hoardings. According to Micky Soler of the advertising agency which devised the campaign, Malla, the slogan refers to the proximity of the institution (here) and its capacity to find a quick solution for Majorcans' problems (now). The campaign shows the areas for which the Council has responsibility, or will have soon, described in a single word. The heritage, for example, is identified with preservation, roads with safety, nature with protection, culture with knowledge, social welfare with attention, pensioners with dreams, sports with participation and territory with identity.
