The Soller chapter of the Red Cross presented its annual medals to volunteers, and also carried out a spectacular rescue operation at the Banco Central Hispano. The operation involved lowering a patient from a window and rushing him to hospital. The bronze medal of merit went to volunteers Maria de les Neus, Catalina Coll Ramis, Joaquina Pulgarin Espada, Pere Llabrés Joy and Oscar Gopar Suarez, as well as Emilio Medina, head of the civil defence service in the Balearics. Plaques of appreciation went to the hotels Espléndido and Marina for their collaboration with the Red Cross of the Beach. Aina de la Peña, head of the council's tourism department also received a plaque and the work of volunteers Manuel Hernandez and Antoni Escalas was recognised. n Right: the winners of the bronze medals of merit.
