No you were not dreaming yesterday, Majorca officially enjoyed a White Christmas. The peaks of the Sierra Tramuntana were sprinkled with snow yesterday morning and by mid-day, hundreds of parents had bundled their children in the back of the car and headed for the snow to give the kids the ultimate Christmas treat; a snow ball fight. The north of the island was a picture postcard as the sun shone on a crisp cold winter's day. The Met office had been hedging its bets over a white Christmas, but the unusually freezing temperatures of the past few weeks failed to rise and the rain which fell over the rest of the island during the past 48 hours, turned to snow up high. Everybody has felt the cold over the past week, the warmth of the shopping centres proved the perfect safe haven from the freezing temperatures. New Year's day will prove slightly warmer with temperatures forecast to rise steadily over the next few days, but those out and about on New Year's Eve, be advised to wrap up warm and have something warm at hand to sling over the party dress because it will still be cold enough to freeze your euros.
