Spain's annual FITUR tourism trade fair opens in Madrid at the end of the month with 170 countries taking part this year. But it will be Spain and the country's top resorts, headed by the Balearics, which will be looking to steal the limelight in order to transmit a message of calm to the global tourist industry and cement Spain's position as Europe's top summer sun destination. The fair however will provide the Balearics with a chance to have a long hard look at the competition which will also be coming to the first international travel fair of the year in force and equally as keen to project a positive and attractive image.
