The Popular Party (PP) has filed suit against Margarita Nájera, the Mayor of Calvia, alleging perversion of the course of justice, falsification of documents and misappropriation of public funds in 16 municipal contracts between 1987 and 2000 through the Estrategia Local company, for a total of 1.4 million euros. The PP also cites two deputy mayors, Manuel Suarez and Antoni Manchado, the director of strategic development Jaier Bustamante, and the head of Estrategia Local, Albert Calderó. Details of the case were announced at a Press conference yesterday by Carlos Delgado, PP chief in the Balearics, secretary general José Maria Rodriguez and lawyer Luis Rodríguez Ramos. Delgado said that they had made a thorough investigation. Nájera declined to comment on the case, saying that she did not know the full terms of it. However, she said that the PP needed a show to cover up its ineffectiveness in Calvia.
