Balearic estate agents have taken the local government to task over its recent report on the region's property sector. The Association of Balearic Property Promoters said yesterday that the report contains some important errors, such as 43 per cent of Balearic homes are unoccupied. According to the association, the percentage reached by the government includes commercial properties, such as holiday apartment blocks and that empty housing has no bearing on the fact that people cannot afford to buy a house, the main reason being that properties are expensive because of the high value of land.
