Judicial sources said yesterday that the state prosecutor, in the case of the murdered Guardia Civil corporal in Palmanova last month, accused the victim's ex-wife Titiana L. of murder yesterday. Judicial sources said that the prosecution has accused her of murder on the grounds that corporal Francisco Orejana Garcia was unable to defend himself. The 30-year-old Swede was arrested on February 20 and taken in to police custody. Sources confirmed that the motive of the crime could have been passion, pointing out that there were contradictions in her initial statement to the Guardia Civil. 31-year-old Garcia was found dead by a Guardia Civil colleague at his Palmanova home on February 10. He called on Garcia after he had failed to show up for work. Garcia died from a blow to the head and police are still searching for the murder weapon which was thought to have been a spanner, but could have been a golf club. Garcia was buried on Tuesday at Palma cemetery with members of Titiana L.*s family present. Garcia's brothers from his home town of Segovia also travelled to the island for the funeral.
