With weather like this, few people will be thinking about outdoor festivals and summer concerts, however a summer line-up of gigs is being compiled to guarantee some entertaining performances. The big event to keep an eye on for the moment is the Isladencanta Festival in Calvia on July 19, 20 and 21. Topping the three-day event will be The Charlatans and Stereo MC's whose biggest hit was “Connected” which for years was used for mobile phone adverts. The word is that New Order are also going to be appearing and there is a slim possibility at the moment that Oasis may also be a late addition to the festival line-up. MTV may well have been forced to relocate their summer festival from Ibiza to Lisbon under pressure from local residents unhappy with the noise and the alleged mess left by the thousands of revellers, but the MTV Dance Tour will be coming to Majorca and Ibiza. The Med Tour, which will be hosted by Alex P. and Brandon Rock, who will be joined each night by guest DJs, will be at Eden Ibiza on July 13 and BCM Planet Dance in Magalluf on July 19. Dance Spanish music fans can look forward to a hectic summer. Once all the hype and hysteria over the Operacion Triunfo (Spain's answer to Pop Idol) concert at Son Moix Stadium in Palma on May 14 has died down, there is a fine line up of singers and bands heading to Majorca over the next four months. Jarabe de Palo who topped the bill at this year's San Sebastian festival in Palma will be returning to play Petra on July 13 and one of the most popular Spanish groups at the moment, Estopa, will be performing live at the Palma Bull Ring on August 5. One of the best singer-song writers to have emerged from the Canary Islands over the past few years, Rosana, will be including Sineu as part of her Spanish tour to promote her third album on August 3, the night after Dover, one of the highlight bands at this year's MTV Europe awards, will play to a sell out crowd in Porreres. Presuntos Implicados take to the stage in Alcudia on July 20 and tickets for Miguel Bosé at the Palma Bull Ring on September 3 may well prove to be the hardest to come by of the summer. The queen of flamenco, Rosario Flores, also returns. She was also part of the San Sebastian line up in Palma and will be heading to Muro this time for her July 21 concert. Spanish teen pin-up David Civera will be strutting his stuff in Alcudia on June 23 and the chart-topping young gipsy trio Los Caños will be in Son Severa on June 22. As the peak of the summer draws nearer, local music promoters will start to announce which other international stars are going to be performing this year.
