No sooner had the ash settled on the charred remains on the Palma warehouse which was gutted by fire on Monday, fire damaged another five and destroyed 35 vehicles on the Son Castelló estate late on Thursday night. The blaze started just before midnight and all of Palma fire brigade's available units were deployed at the scene. Palma city council, which only on Thursday announced that new tougher health and safety inspections are to be carried out on the industrial estate, said that the fire started in one of the two vehicle repair workshops which housed the damaged cars. The fire spread to damage four other buildings and fire fighters took three hours to extinguish the blaze and were at the scene until 2.30am. Fire investigators started work at the scene yesterday, trying to establish what caused the blaze, the second large fire in a week and the third massive fire in the past 12 months on Palma's main industrial estate.
