Preparations are under way for a string of Golden Jubilee events in Majorca with Britons actually flying out to the island to join in the special celebrations. Pubs and restaurants across the Balearics are preparing their celebrations for the Jubilee weekend, but the biggest party of all is to be thrown by tour operator JMC at Western Park in Magalluf. JMC said yesterday that their customers have no need to worry about missing the Jubilee celebrations by being on holiday in Majorca. The main event on June 3, which is open to the public by ticket only, is being organised by Heidi Nostrum who will transform Western Park into a huge British street party, decked out with hundreds of Union Jacks and royal memorabilia, similar to how streets the length and breadth of the UK were for the Silver Jubilee celebrations in 1977. In the build up to the big day, a host of children's activities are to be organised. JMC reps will be helping their younger guests make their prince and princess outfits for the party which will feature a royal parade celebrating some of the best West End musicals of the past fifty years. The tour operator is also offering special Jubilee week holidays in Majorca as many Britons are expected to make the most of the extra Bank Holiday and slip abroad to celebrate the Jubilee in the sunshine. JMC's party organiser Heidi Nostrum, was only six in 1977, but she has fond memories of the Silver Jubilee and the street party she attended. She added that her great memories of the celebrations have prompted her to push the boat out for the Golden Jubilee and their guests by throwing the biggest party Majorca has ever seen, on a day when Britons across the Balearics will be raising a toast.
