The Balearic ministry of public works, housing and transport will provide 1.3 million euros in subsidies for renewing and modernising the fleet of coaches which provides the service to outlying towns and villages. Companies who have renewed their fleets this year have until the end of July to claim a subsidy. Improving the long-distance coach service is one of the ministry's attempts to encourage more people to use public transport and ease traffic congestion on the busy roads. The next step will be to co-ordinate the service better.
