A man who fell overboard from a yacht was rescued after spending three hours in the sea. He was named as Carlos González of Ecuador and he was spotted by the captain of the Ciudad de Malaga, which was heading out of Palma for Ibiza at 5.30am. The captain alerted the port authorities and a launch was sent out to rescue the man who was exhausted and was showing signs of hypothermia after his ordeal. He told his rescuers that he had been in the sea for three hours. The man was taken to hospital for a check up although his condition was not serious. He left the hospital yesterday afternoon. The Port Authority has drawn up a report on the incident and the Guardia Civil were also informed. The name and whereabouts of the yacht from which the man fell have not been revealed.
