Today the union will announce if hotel staff in the Balearics are to take industrial action. With the emphasis on positive messages, the CC.OO and UGT union clearly disagree and unless the dispute over wage increases for the 60.000 employees in the hostelry sector can be resolved today, local unions bosses will announce strike action. Service sector bosses were last night dreading the thought of a strike and the further damage it will do to the Balearics' already battered image. One of the representatives for service sector companies trying to reach a solution with the unions, admitted yesterday that the strike will be the final straw for a bad season and urged the unions to seriously reconsider industrial action. Should protests go ahead, flash strikes are expected to be called over the next two months, disrupting peak season.
