A new macro-ferry port in Cala Figuera in Minorca and a new cruise quay in Mahon harbour are two projects the Balearic Port Authority is keen to push ahead with. Included in the Minorca port facilities improvement plans is also a project to build an entertainment/shopping complex including a multiplex cinema. The Cala Figuera port will be built to handle 250 metre-plus ships while the new entertainment complex, it is hoped, will encourage more cruise ships to stay over night in Minorca.
