Just days after fire swept through and destroyed a furniture warehouse on the Son Castello industrial estate, demolition work started on the Central Mimrera building, also gutted by a blaze in June. Police are still investigating the cause of the fire which destroyed the furniture store and some of the debris has been sent to a laboratory on the mainland for further examination. Quantifying the cost of the damage caused by the fire is also proving difficult to complete. The fire in June also damaged four neighbouring warehouses and last Friday's fire, which damaged three adjacent buildings, has caused fresh fears over health and safety standards on the industrial site. A short circuit may have caused Friday's fire but the investigation continues.
