Caixa Galicia and Telefónica Movistar were last night on the brink of clinching this year's Copa del Rey. While Caixa Galicia and skipper Roberto Bermúdez have dominated the IMS 500 group right from the start of the week, Pedro Campos the skipper of Telefónica Movistar managed to pull past Retevision yesterday to take the lead of the IMS 600 group. Azur de Puig skippered by the Infanta Cristina moved up into second place behind Caixa Galicia but, bar a superb performance in the bay of Palma today, the gap left by Caixa Galicia is probably too wide to breach. Retevision which led the ISM 600 group for much of the week, faces a similarly daunting task today as well to catch Telefónica Movistar. After racing was postponed on Friday, the fleet enjoyed a good day's racing yesterday with a wind of around 14 knots. In the first if yesterday's two legs, ONO and the prototype Fórum Filatélico raced well, battling it out for third place in the IMS 500 group. It was Forum which finished the day in third. Tonight KIng Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia will preside over the prize giving ceremony which will also be attended by the Minister for Sport, Education and Culture Pilar del Castillo. She visited the Real Club Nautico yesterday and praised the organisers of this year's 21st regatta for having established an event of such high international standards.
Everything to sail for today in bay of Palma
