Visitors on holiday along the Playa de Palma are to be given special security and safety advice leaflets. The Balearic ministries for the interior and tourism have printed 100'000 leaflets in Catalan, Spanish, English, German, French and Italian. The initiative is said to be part of the beach safety campaign, but the leaflets advise tourists against playing the illegal street gambling games, not to leave objects in hire cars and what to do in case of an emergency. The Playa de Palma Hotel Association, which has been lobbying the city council and the local government over recent years to help stamp out petty crime and prostitution in the resorts, suggested to the government that publishing the guide would benefit tourists and the local community. The leaflets will be made available at all the hotels along the stretch.
