The beautiful Ukrainian sail training ship, STS Khersones, will be sailing into Puerto Pollensa this weekend for a brief visit. She is 110 metres long and has a crew of 42 along with 72 Ukrainian Navy cadets all of whom are under training. Presently she is conducting a Mediterranean cruise and she will moor up in Pollensa early on Saturday morning. Well known in sailing circles the Khersones is also used for private charters and apart from the crew and cadets there are a number of German tourists aboard as well. The Khersones caused quite a sensation when she visited Southampton recently and was opened to the public. Although her primary propulsion is her sails she is also equipped with engines and all the latest navigational aides and equipment. The visit of the Khersones has been organised by Puerto Pollensa based Sail & Surf. This is her first visit to Majorca.
