One man died and two were injured in the third fatal traffic accident in Majorca since the start of the year. The victim, a man in his fifties, has not been identified and it is thought that he may be a foreigner. The accident occurred shortly after 2pm yesterday, on a straight stretch of road between Algaida and Ses Costes de Xorrigo. A Ford Focus coming from Palma was involved in a head on collision with a Peugeot. The victim, driving the Ford, was trapped in the wreckage and died immediately. His body had to be cut free by firemen who rushed to the scene from Palma. The passenger in the Ford Focus and the driver of the other vehicle, both women who have not been named, were injured in the crash and were taken to hospital. The accident caused traffic pile ups in both directions and the Local Police were called out to control the situation. The Guardia Civil are investigating the cause of the crash.
