l Palma's Son Sant Joan airport yesterday reported a 6.56 per cent increase in passengers for last month compared to February 2002. In total the airport handled 751.962 passengers, according to Spanish airport authority AENA. The airport also handled 8.351 flight movements, just under three per cent more than in February last year. This year is proving a busy one for the airport, accumulated passengers figures for January and February show a 11 per cent rise on passenger figures for the first two months of last year. The German market is still falling, last month saw a four per cent drop in the number of German passengers while the number of Spaniards rose by 14 per cent. However, the big mover is the UK market. Palma airport experienced a 19-25 per cent rise in the number of UK passengers. But despite the drop in German passengers, Air Berlin was the airport's busiest carrier last month followed by Air Europa, Hapag Lloyd, Iberia and Spanair.
