THE rectors of the Instituto Joan Lluis Vives, which covers 18 universities including that of the Balearics, has approved a manifesto against the war in Iraq in which it encourages students to continue peaceful protests. A statment said that “we do not think that academic activity will be affected by the demonstrations, which we believe are enriching for the students.” It also says that the attack against Iraq has been “illegal and illegitimate” and called on universities (professors, students and administration and service staff) to keep on demonstrating for peace and rejecting military intervention in a peaceful way.
