MOSCOW
SATURDAY'S police raid of a luxury villa belonging to a leading Russian politician in El Toro, Calvia, has angered the Russian parliament.
Lawyers of Chairman of the State Duma Financial Markets Committee Vladislav Reznik have challenged the Spanish police search of the deputy's Majorca villa. “The house was bought in strict compliance with Russian and Spanish laws. The money was transferred from a bank account in Moscow, and the purchase was declared,” Reznik said.

The villa was searched in the course of investigations into criminal cases of Russians that reside in Spain. The search was authorized by Judge Baltasar Garzon who has issued an international arrest warrant for Reznik but Moscow is not expected to cooperate.
