RESIDENTS of a home in Santa Maria are sitting comfortably following the delivery of 20 special armchairs.
The chairs, donated by the Lions Club of Calvià to Hogar del Sol old people's home, were chosen because they are suitable for people with reduced mobility and balance. The higher than average back and robust structure of the furniture makes them safe and comfortable for the 27 residents of the home.

At a cost of 250€ for each armchair, Hogar del Sol was unable to find the money to buy the new furniture itself and so Calvià Lions provided the 5'000euros needed. Hogar del Sol director Mariano Enfedaque Campos said: “Thanks to the Lions we have been able to replace the old armchairs which were badly in need of repair. The residents spend a lot of time sitting down so these comfortable chairs, which are easy to sit down on and get out of, are ideal.”
