Arta.—The Balearic Nature Institute (Ibanat) confirmed yesterday that Emergency services had succeeded in extinguishing a forest fire in the municipality of Arta that had destroyed 3'000 square metres of land.

Emergency services, including the Majorcan Fire Service had been alerted at about 9.45am yesterday of the blaze which had begun on the Can Barbassa estate around 6 kilometres from Betlem. Local Police and rapid response units from the Ministry of the Interior aided firemen in bringing the blaze under control in two hours.
