THE 67-year-old man who was found dead earlier this week in an apartment in Calle Sant Rafel, Palma is now known to have been kicked and punched to death, the Homicide squad confirmed yesterday.
The severity of face and head wounds was such that investigators believed he may have been shot in the face but the possibility, along with the motive of robbery, has now been discounted.
The hands and feet of the body were found to be bound with adhesive tape. The origin of the tape, if it were found to have been brought in from outside, could be a key factor in concluding whether the murder was premeditated or not.
Neighbours have said to police that the victim, Manuel Sánchez Nuñez frequently had young people of all ages up to his apartment at unpredictable hours.
