Palma.Owners of some 20 badly delapidated properties in the historic centre of the cityhave made application to Palma City Council for the buildings to be officially declared in ruin.
Antoni Verger, spokesman for a Majorcan Socialist coalition on the council complained yesterday that building owners are not observing their responsibilities to maintain their properties.
In fact, when these people ask for the Council to declare the buildings as official ruins, the properties are not that delapidated. The end aim is to knock down what might be older properties of historic value and replace them with several flats. Verger said he wants the state of the buildings monitored.
