Palma/Madrid.—Too many Spanish teenagers are not having a proper balanced diet and devoting too little time to physical activity, the Alicia Nutrition Research Foundation claimed yesterday.

Working in collaboration with Kraft Foods, the Foundation interviewed 2'516 pupils aged between 14 and 15 at almost 100 schools across Spain including in the Balearics, asking participants to record their food intake for a week. Findings showed that in 98% of cases, not enough fruit and vegetables were eaten with 23% admitting they “never ate” vegetables.

Nearly 80% didn't eat enough dairy products on a daily basis; 68% failed to have sufficient fish with 20% saying they would go for an entire week without eating fish or eggs. Good news was that 80% said they had breakfast before leaving the house each day.
