The control hub of 061-SAMU medical emergency services said yesterday that the organisation responded to 213'549 urgent calls in the Balearics last year.

Records showed that callers had to wait an average of just 0.09 minutes for a control hub response and that the length of conversations averaged out at 1.54 minutes.

People needing urgent medical attention in the Balearics had to wait for an average of 10.89 minutes before help in the form of an ambulance with life saving equipment and crew arrived, a report showed.

The average time in Majorca was slightly longer than in Minorca and Ibiza - 11.52 minutes.
