Magalluf.—A 26-year-old British tourist was in a serious condition in a Palma hospital last night after he fell from the balcony at his hotel in Magalluf.

The tourist was rushed to hospital late on Sunday night and placed in an intensive care unit.
Calvia police have launched a full investigation.
Earlier on Friday another British tourist, identified by the British media as Chantelle Serginson, 24, was taken to hospital after she fell from the sixth floor of her hotel in Magalluf. She is also in a serious condition in a Palma hospital.

There is mounting concern about the growing number of balcony fall deaths and injuries in Magalluf this year. According to Spanish press reports, three people (all British tourists) have died and a further seven have received serious injuries after balcony falls.

The local Hoteliers Association is also concerned.
Hotel and emergency services staff in Spain have warned that a dangerous craze known as “balconing” which involves jumping from one balcony onto another or from a balcony into a swimming pool, could be behind some of the incidents.
