Palma.—Over the past few months, there has been a steady stream of Olympic swimming teams coming to the BEST elite aquatic centre here in Majorca as part of their final preparations for the London Games and now, some of Britain's biggest names in sport are about to land on the island.

Teenage diving sensation Tom Daley and his team are going to be carrying out their penultimate training camp here in Palma before returning to the UK for a final “lock down” camp before the Games commence.

Tom Daley admitted earlier this week that he is already getting “really excited” after the diving superstar was named in the Great Britain squad for this summer's Olympics.

Plymouth Diving's Daley will lead the Great Britain charge in both the men's individual 10m platform and the synchro events at the London Games.
Daley made certain of his place in the teenager's own ‘dream Games' by winning a gold medal at the British Championships which doubled as Olympic trials at Sheffield's Ponds Forge at the weekend.

The former world champion scored a total of 547 points in the individual, outscoring Waterfield who ended the dive-off with 452.
And, close in his wake, is Team Sky led by Bradley Wiggins who is the favourite to win the Tour de France this year.
Wiggins will be holding a pre Tour press conference on the island earlier next week before the rest of the British track team begin arriving for their final training block ahead of the games.

It was here in Majorca that the British cycling team carried out their penultimate preparations for the Beijing Games where they cleaned up winning a host of gold medals four years ago, so they will be looking to Majorca to give them that extra edge again.

Wiggins, however, has his sights firmly set on the Tour de France which comes ahead of the games.
He will arrive in Majorca as the only man to ever win Paris-Nice, Tour de Romandie and the Criterium du Dauphine in the same season. Wiggins is keen to take in those achievements heading into the month of July. “This is all a road to winning the Tour hopefully, that's the goal,” he said yesterday.
