Palma.—A member of the Colonia de Sant Jordi Local Police Force was being hailed a hero yesterday after saving the life of a four-year-old Italian child on Tuesday evening.

The youngster is on holiday with his parents and they were all coming to the end of a day on the beach when the child started to suffer breathing problems and began drowning while in the sea.

The Local Policeman was carrying out a routine patrol along the sea front at the time and heard the parents screaming for help.
He immediately responded and, on spotting the child floating in the sea, undid his holster and leapt into the sea and swam out to rescue the four-year-old. Once back ion the beach, the policemen managed to revive the child before the youngster was rushed to hospital where he was said to have been in a stable condition yesterday.
