Parliament, asking for help to stop the construction of a luxury hotel at Sa Rápita alongside the virgin beach of Es Trenc in the municipality of Campos.
Signatures have been gathered by the Save Es Trenc action group and the Esquerra Republican (Republican Left) political party on the internet. The letter of presentation accompanying the signatures urges the European Parliament to act to save a unique environment with special eco-systems and magnificent unspoiled scenery, currently enjoyed by local people. The petition also points out that the luxury hotel development has been earmarked for a site which has been placed under special protection for its wildfowl nesting sites. The Republican Left asks the European Commission to check that the Balearic government is not breaking environmental law.
