Annual church tax for Palma Council

Every church in the municipality pays an average of 1'000 euros a year to Palma City Council in tax, Economy Councillor Julio Martinez confirmed yesterday. He explained that although the Church, like all non-profit making organisations, is exempt from paying property tax and other inheritance contributions, it nevertheless has to pay for public services such as rubbish collection and water. “The Church doesn't have any privileges at City Hall,” said Martinez.
