The demolition of the notorious suburb of Son Banya in eastern Palma is being delayed due to the economic crisis and because of legal complaints which have been made about the knocking down of people's homes, Palma's Social Welfare councillor Sandra Fernandez said yesterday. Speaking in the wake of a recent drugs raid in Son Banya involving over 120 police officers, she added that unemployment is also making it difficult to rehouse people elsewhere.
