Palma.—Palma Council is to make a modification to already-existing laws governing what cyclists can and can't do in the city. The alteration will mean that cyclists will soon be allowed to use some pedestrian only areas and pavements which run alongside or past the city's cycle tracks. Specific examples are that cyclists will be able to use Calle Fabrica (a pedestrian only street); the raised walking area in Avenida Antoni Maura; the pavement in Avenida Joan Miró along the stretch between the Ponent motorway and Marivent, the pedestrian only street of Convento de San Francisco; and the Parc de la Mar.

Also falling into this category is the stretch of pavement in Avenida Conde de Sallent running between Calle Blanquerna and Calle 31 de Diciembre, the narrow pavement on the Borne, the Sa Riera park and in the Plaza de España from the cycle path as far as the access to the Olivar market area. The City Council said that some of the modifications to the cycle code have been made at the request of PalmaEnBici, the organisation representing the interests of the city's cycle track users.
