l Parents of children attending the secondary school in Sineu agreed at a meeting held yesterday that they won't allow the pupils to start school next term unless classroom conditions are reassessed by the government. The decision of the local “Parents of Schoolchildren” association comes in response to changes in teaching practices that have arisen as a result of regional government Education cuts and restructuring. Parents are claiming that with a reduction in staff , the ratio of teachers to pupils now means that the size of classes has grown significantly to more than 36 in each. Parents maintain that this “seriously affects” the quality of education their children will receive.
